Visiting and Contact with the Museum

We do not receive mail at the Museum premises - please see below

Following the disbandment of V (The Liverpool Scottish) Company of the 5th / 8th (Volunteer) Battalion, King's Regiment and the closure of the Forbes House Drill Hall in Childwall during 1999, the Liverpool Scottish Museum has until 2002 been without a home whilst the serving Liverpool Scottish soldiers moved to other TA Centres. However, the move to the new Forbes House at Botanic Road in Liverpool took place early in 2001 and the museum was officially reopened on Saturday 16th November 2002.

The Museum is open to visitors on a limited basis at present, normally on a Wednesday afternoon/evening  (2 pm to 7 pm and later by arrangement) and other times by arrangement. Interested groups are welcomed by prior arrangement. A phone call to the Honorary Curator  or the Honorary Secretary before the intended visit  is strongly advised to confirm availability and to avoid a wasted journey. Other queries should initially be made by e-mail or post. Experimentally we intend that there will be additional days (probably once a month) on which we will welcome visitors (often in conjunction with other events) and these will be published here and on the current internet newsletter (see menu).

Contact with the Museum may be made by telephone, post at the address below or e-mail.

There is now a telephone contact in the museum 07952 169285

There continues to be a substantial serving Territorial Army element of The Liverpool Scottish as part of A (King's) Company of The King's and Cheshire Regiment based at Townsend Avenue in Liverpool and a Liverpool Scottish cadet detachment of Merseyside ACF has relocated to new premises beside the Museum in Botanic Road.

Those who have previously corresponded with the Museum should be aware of the death of Major David Evans TD (Honorary Secretary) on 13th August 2002. His e-mail address should not be used. Anyone requiring his postal address in order to write to his family should contact Major Ian Riley (see below)
